Zayed Charity Run 2024 Attracts Nearly 12,000 Participants To Support Multiple Sclerosis Society
The 2024 Zayed Charity Run, held at Erth Abu Dhabi, drew nearly 12,000 participants globally and many spectators. This event is renowned as the world's leading 'Run for Kindness.' Donations this year will support the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, an NGO focused on empowering those with multiple sclerosis through awareness and finding a cure.
Sheikh Yas bin Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan initiated the 10km race amid cheers, alongside Lt. Gen. (Rtd.) Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Higher Organising Committee. The event welcomed runners of all skill levels, offering a 3km family-friendly track, a 5km course for intermediate runners, and a challenging 10km route.

This year saw nearly 4,000 Emirati runners join participants from India, the Philippines, Egypt, and other nations. The event celebrated global unity and determination. Over 2,000 children from more than 115 schools participated. The oldest participant was 77 years old.
Aref Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, noted that the Zayed Charity Run in Abu Dhabi marked the beginning of a series of successes for this humanitarian sports event. It aims to aid patients and alleviate suffering both within the UAE and internationally.
The run featured intense competition among elite athletes vying for AED1.5 million in prizes across various categories and age groups. This prize pool recognised exceptional performances and celebrated athletic excellence.
Mohammed Hilal Al Kaabi stated: "The Zayed Charity Run is a living embodiment of the values of giving, humanity, and unity that our Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed, instilled in us." He highlighted the extraordinary community spirit with over 11,000 participants joining for a noble cause.
Support for Multiple Sclerosis
Dr. Fatima Al Kaabi expressed gratitude to the organisers for supporting the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as this year's beneficiary. She acknowledged their commitment to humanitarian efforts and dedication to supporting the MS community in the UAE.
