Inaugural Xposure International Film Awards Announce Diverse Winners

The Xposure International Photography Festival, renowned for being the world's largest photography event, has broadened its horizon this year by incorporating the Xposure International Film Awards into its agenda. This strategic move not only diversifies the festival's offerings but also enhances its reputation as a premier platform for visual storytelling. The 8th edition of the festival marked the debut of this significant expansion, introducing four new sub-categories: Short Film and Moving Image, Best Documentary, Cinematic Arts, and Animation.

The introduction of these categories attracted a total of 567 submissions from around the globe, highlighting the vast array of talent and vision within the filmmaking community. The awards ceremony was graced by Tariq Saeed Allay, Director General of the Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB), and HE Alya Al Suwaidi, Director of SGMB. The event celebrated the nominees and announced the winners and runners-up across the newly established categories.

Xposure Film Awards Winners Unveiled

In the Short Film and Moving Image category, Iran's Lida Fazli took home the top prize with her film "This Side, Other Side," while Ali Muhammad from Iraq was named runner-up for his film "The Marshes of Iraq." The Animation category saw Jorge Morais from Spain winning with "In Half," and Jarle Styve from Norway as runner-up for "The Bitter Desert."

The Cinematic Arts category was won by Jaan Albalushi from Bahrain for his film "Zaarab," with Masoud Ahmadi from Iran securing the runner-up spot with "Migrants." In the Best Documentary category, Adrian Dmoch from Poland received top honors for "KrakoRun," and Amara Nwuneli from Nigeria was recognized as runner-up for her work "The Heat of Change."

The ceremony concluded with a note of appreciation towards all participants and contributors. The organizers expressed their anticipation for future editions of the festival and their eagerness to witness more inspiring projects from both filmmakers and photographers worldwide.
