Winners Of Sheikh Rashid Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Quran Competition For School Students Celebrated In Dubai

The Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Quran Competition for School Students in Dubai recently honoured its winners for the 2024-2025 academic year. Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikha Hind bint Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum, the event took place at Zayed University. The competition, organised by the Dubai International Holy Quran Award with support from IACAD and KHDA, celebrated 120 students excelling in various categories.

The competition aims to instill Islamic values and promote the Arabic language among young people. It is part of the "Ghiras Al Khair" initiative, which seeks to strengthen national identity. This year, 1,104 students from 32 private schools participated, representing 41 nationalities. The event highlighted cultural diversity and encouraged students to memorise and recite the Holy Quran.

The competition serves as a platform for cultural exchange and promotes Islamic values among younger generations. Students from grades one to four formed the largest group with 472 participants, followed by 415 students from grades five to eight, and 217 from grades nine to twelve. Additionally, 20 students with determination participated, with five emerging as winners.

Aisha Miran expressed her appreciation for the achievements of students who excelled in memorising the Holy Quran. "Today, we celebrate the exceptional achievements of our students from various schools who have excelled in memorising the Holy Quran," she stated. These students set a positive example for their peers by embodying Islamic values.

Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi highlighted the collaboration between IACAD and KHDA as crucial for community development. "This competition is a testament to the strong collaboration between IACAD and KHDA," he said. He also acknowledged teachers' contributions at Maktoum Holy Quran and Sciences Centres for inspiring a competitive environment that motivates students.

The partnership between IACAD and KHDA focuses on promoting Islamic cultural activities in educational institutions across Dubai. This collaboration aims to instill Islamic values in school students throughout the emirate while supporting UAE’s educational goals.

Community Involvement

Aisha Miran thanked all involved parties for their efforts in fostering positive values within Dubai's educational community. She noted that parents' commitment plays a crucial role in nurturing children's skills in Quran memorisation and recitation, fostering a generation rooted in moral integrity.

The award ceremony was attended by Ahmed Darwish Al Muhairi, Director-General of IACAD; Aisha Miran, Director-General of KHDA; representatives from participating schools; and families of students. Their presence underscored the importance of this event in promoting Islamic education.

This annual competition supports UAE’s educational and cultural objectives by providing a platform for students to demonstrate their dedication to learning and preserving the teachings of the Holy Quran. It encourages participation from diverse backgrounds, reflecting Dubai's multicultural society.
