Visit Qatar To Enhance Business Prospects At Arabian Travel Market 2024
Visit Qatar is set to highlight its array of unique travel destinations at the 31st edition of the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) conference, taking place in Dubai, UAE, from May 6 to 9. This participation underscores Qatar's strategic push to enhance its visibility within the global travel and tourism sector. The ATM conference, a pivotal event in the tourism calendar, attracts over 1,500 exhibitors, delegates from 150 countries, and more than 23,000 visitors annually, making it one of the world's most significant gatherings for tourism professionals.
The Qatari delegation, led by Visit Qatar, will comprise 43 members showcasing the nation's tourism sector's depth and diversity. Occupying a prominent position within the Dubai World Trade Centre, the Qatar Pavilion will spread over 600 square metres, including a 150 square metre upper deck. This space will feature a digital 'inspiration wall' and a cultural area presented in collaboration with Heenat Salma, highlighting Qatar's rich heritage through activities like Sadu weaving and body oil making.
Alongside showcasing traditional crafts, the pavilion will introduce an interactive augmented reality experience, enabling visitors to capture and take home personalized souvenirs. The presence of the 'Visit Qatar Café', in partnership with Qinwan, further enriches the pavilion's offering, providing attendees a taste of Qatari hospitality.
ATM 2024, themed 'Empowering Innovation - Transforming Travel Through Entrepreneurship', attracts a diverse audience from across the globe, including tourism boards, hotels, airlines, and technology providers. This year, Visit Qatar aims to leverage this platform to foster discussions and collaborations that spotlight Qatar as a premier tourist destination.
A Strategic Push for Tourism
Eng. Abdulaziz Ali Al Mawlawi, CEO of Visit Qatar, emphasized the importance of participating in global conventions to promote Qatar's tourism sector. With the goal of economic diversification by 2030, as outlined in the Qatar National Vision 2030, the country has been proactive in showcasing its tourism potential. Qatar's strategic efforts have paid off, with the nation welcoming almost 1.7 million visitors in the first quarter of the year alone, nearly half of whom were from the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Major events hosted by Qatar, such as the AFC Asian Cup 2023 and the Doha Jewellery & Watches Exhibition, have significantly contributed to this influx of visitors. With the introduction of a unified GCC tourist visa, Qatar aims to attract even more visitors from the region, offering them exceptional experiences underscored by service excellence. Qatar Airways plays a crucial role in this strategy, connecting the country to 177 international destinations.
As Visit Qatar prepares to make a strong impression at ATM 2024, the focus remains on highlighting the country's tourism assets and future developments. By engaging with key stakeholders and industry leaders, Qatar is well-positioned to further cement its status as a world-class tourist destination within the GCC and beyond.
