University Of Sharjah To Host Arab-German Science Conference In November 2025
The University of Sharjah (UOS), under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, is gearing up to host the Arab-German Conference on Science and Humanities. Scheduled from 17th to 20th November 2025, this event will gather over 100 top researchers and academics from more than 40 universities and research institutions in the Arab world and Germany.
The conference, organised with the Arab-German Young Academy of Sciences and Humanities (AGYA), aims to foster research collaboration between Arab and German universities. It will cover diverse fields such as health sciences, technology, space exploration, innovation, sustainable smart cities, and social sciences. The event seeks to empower young researchers to build long-term networks and tackle global research challenges together.

Throughout the four-day event, participants will engage in scientific sessions and interactive workshops. These will explore themes like water sustainability, higher education's role in international partnerships, innovation in space exploration, and universities' contributions to sustainable development. The conference serves as a strategic platform for dialogue among young scientists from both regions.
On its third day, sessions will be held at the University of Khorfakkan. The initiative receives support from prominent institutions including United Arab Emirates University, Sultan Qaboos University, Cambridge University, Technical University of Munich, and Cairo University. This collaboration aims to open new pathways for scientific partnerships between participating entities.
The conference will feature notable speakers such as Prof Thomas Silveira from Harvard University and Professor Claudia Derichs from Humboldt University in Germany. Other distinguished speakers include Dr Gina El Feki from Egypt's Academy of Scientific Research and Technology, Dr Bassam Alam Eldin from the American University of Ras Al Khaimah, Dr Mohamed Yahya from Mauritania's Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and Dr Erik Hansalik from Germany's Federal Ministry of Research.
University presidents, experts, specialists from the UAE, Germany, the Arab region, UNESCO representatives, and World Bank officials will also attend. Their participation underscores the event's significance in promoting collaborative research that supports sustainable growth and global knowledge exchange.
AGYA's Role
Based in Berlin with a regional office in Egypt, AGYA connects young Arab researchers with German academic institutions. Plans are underway to establish a new office at UOS to oversee activities within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region. This expansion highlights AGYA’s commitment to fostering international academic collaborations.
The conference represents a significant opportunity for young researchers to share expertise and develop joint initiatives addressing common regional challenges. By encouraging dialogue among scientists from diverse backgrounds, it aims to promote sustainable development through collaborative research efforts.
