The University of Stavanger in Norway has been honoured with the US$1 Million Human Energy Health and Wellbeing Award. This accolade recognises their innovative solutions that enhance mental and physical health within the global energy workforce. The award, powered by Response Plus Holding PJSC (RPM) and Burjeel Holdings, with support from Prometheus Medical International, was presented at ADIPEC 2025.

The award ceremony featured prominent figures such as Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNOC. Also present were Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil, Founder and Chairman of Burjeel Holdings, and Omran Al Khoori, Chairman of RPM. The event attracted senior leaders from the global energy sector.

University of Stavanger Wins Human Energy Award

The University of Stavanger's winning initiative was developed in collaboration with Equinor, a major offshore operator. It enables medics in remote locations to conduct real-time diagnostic imaging under expert supervision from afar. This innovation is a significant step forward for healthcare in isolated environments.

Other notable awards were given during the ceremony. Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) from India received recognition for launching the first scientific mental health initiative across India's energy sector workplaces. This programme surveyed over 4,400 employees and implemented targeted interventions with the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences.

UAE-based NMDC Group was commended for its extensive wellbeing framework that benefits 10,000 personnel. Their approach combines clinical screening with evidence-based mental health support and continuous health campaigns at operational sites throughout the year.

The Human Energy Award saw over 100 global entries evaluated on criteria such as impact on employee health, innovation, holistic approach, engagement, participation, and sustainability with a long-term vision. These initiatives align with the UAE's 'We The UAE 2031 Vision' and 'National Strategy for Wellbeing 2031', reinforcing the nation's role as a hub for human-centric innovation.

Commitment to Innovation

Dr. Shamsheer Vayalil stated, "Employee wellbeing is not merely institutional commitment — it is an integrated development strategy. The initiatives recognised today demonstrate that investing in people directly enhances productivity, sustainability, and innovation. I congratulate the organisations on reaching tens of thousands of Energy sector employees with evidence-based, scalable solutions that will set new industry standards."

Omran Al Khoori added insight into the award's significance: "The scale and diversity of impact represented by the Human Energy Award winners is remarkable. From pioneering mental health governance frameworks serving thousands to remote diagnostic technology transforming offshore healthcare to comprehensive wellbeing programs embedded in daily operations—these initiatives prove that human health and organisational excellence are inseparable. They represent the future of the Energy sector."

This award highlights how integrating health-focused strategies can drive productivity and innovation within industries worldwide.
