H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah, oversaw the graduation of 664 female bachelor’s students across two ceremonies, marking a key milestone for the institution and its focus on preparing qualified graduates for the labour market and wider community service in Sharjah, the UAE and the region.
The first ceremony included 335 graduates from the Colleges of Business Administration, Engineering, Computing and Informatics, and Science, while the second brought together 329 graduates from the Colleges of Communication, Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, Public Policy, Sharia and Islamic Studies, Fine Arts and Design, and Law, reflecting the wide academic spread of the University of Sharjah programmes.
The ceremonies began with the national anthem of the United Arab Emirates and a recitation from the Holy Qur’an, before moving to academic addresses and student speeches. The programme underlined the University of Sharjah’s role as a key higher education hub and highlighted how its female graduates are expected to contribute to national development priorities and professional sectors.
Dr. Essam Al Din Ajami, Chancellor of the University of Sharjah, used the occasion to thank H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed Al Qasimi for sponsoring and attending both undergraduate ceremonies, and to congratulate the graduates and their families. Ajami stressed that the university’s core mission is to link high academic standards with community service and practical impact across disciplines.
Explaining the institution’s academic philosophy, Ajami told the audience: "The university was never merely walls and halls, but a message and a promise, a promise to develop the human being. At the University of Sharjah, we have been keen to ensure that knowledge is linked to values, that scientific research is directed towards solving real issues, and that the female student is a partner and contributor in shaping the future."
Ajami also spoke about the university’s position in international rankings and its wider reputation. He noted that the University of Sharjah is working to balance teaching, research and innovation, and that this direction matters for employers and policy makers tracking higher education standards across the Middle East and beyond.
Addressing the graduates, Ajami continued: "Today, you set forth from a well-established university, one that has proven excellence to be a strategic choice and leadership, the outcome of a clear vision and sustained effort, until it has attained a distinguished academic and research presence. This is affirmed by the recognition of a large number of international ranking institutions, clearly reflecting the high level the university has reached in both the academic and research fields. In the area of innovation and transforming ideas into tangible reality, the University of Sharjah has demonstrated that it has moved beyond being a traditional academic institution to become a regional platform for knowledge production and an incubator for technological innovations."
The Chancellor concluded by urging the graduates to recognise the impact of education on society, emphasising that qualified women can lead change, design solutions and support entrepreneurship in science and technology. Ajami encouraged them to carry forward the values acquired at the University of Sharjah into public, private and non-profit roles.
