Union Association For Human Rights Engages In Global Campaign To Combat Violence Against Women And Girls
The Union Association for Human Rights (UAHR) is actively engaging in a global initiative to combat violence against women and girls. This effort coincides with the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The campaign, themed "Towards Beijing+30: Unite to End Violence Against Women and Girls," marks 30 years since the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action was adopted.
The UAHR's campaign runs from 25th November to 10th December, aligning with the international "Unite to End Violence Against Women" initiative. It aims to raise awareness about eradicating violence against women and girls worldwide. The campaign will prominently feature the colour orange, symbolising hope for a future free from violence.

During this campaign, UAHR stresses that violence against women remains a significant obstacle to achieving equality, justice, peace, and human rights. The association highlights the importance of eliminating such violence globally. This aligns with the international slogans "Orange the World" and "#NoExcuse," promoting a world without physical, psychological, or digital abuse.
The campaign also draws attention to key aspects of the 1995 Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. This declaration called for addressing various forms of violence against women, including economic violence, while ensuring gender equality. It underscores how these issues are crucial in advancing women's rights globally.
UN reports have shown an increase in violence against women during climate crises and pandemics like COVID-19. The UAHR's campaign references these findings to highlight ongoing challenges. These reports indicate that such crises exacerbate existing vulnerabilities among women and girls worldwide.
The UAE has been proactive in combating violence against women on both national and international fronts. Regional initiatives include the Arab Declaration to End All Forms of Violence Against Women and Girls, launched in Abu Dhabi. These efforts demonstrate a commitment to addressing this critical issue at multiple levels.
Through its social media platforms, UAHR is running a 16-day campaign as part of this broader movement. By participating in this initiative, UAHR aims to contribute significantly to global efforts aimed at ending violence against women and girls.
