The UAE Board on Books for Young People (UAEBBY) is inviting entries for the 2025 Creative Writing Competition. This initiative, part of the "Read, Dream, Create" campaign, encourages children and teens aged 6 to 18 in the UAE to write stories in Arabic. The competition aims to nurture creativity and self-expression in a supportive environment.

Participants have until 31st July to submit their original stories, which must be written in Arabic. Entries should be submitted in Microsoft Word format along with a completed electronic application form available on the UAEBBY website. Illustrations can also accompany the stories.

UAEBBY Launches 2025 Writing Contest

The competition offers young writers a chance to explore their narrative skills and engage with literature practically. It combines imagination, writing, and critical thinking, helping participants connect with the Arabic language while fostering a love for reading. This initiative inspires them to pursue literary exploration and expand their intellectual horizons.

Since its inception in 2013, this annual event has become highly anticipated among children and teenagers. It not only discovers talent but also nurtures it by highlighting exceptional submissions. Many participants have been motivated to turn their early writing experiences into steps toward publication.

The competition is divided into three age groups: 6–9 years, 10–12 years, and 13–18 years. Winners in each category will receive AED3,000, a collection of books, and a certificate of appreciation. Additionally, winning stories will be published on the campaign’s digital platform.

This initiative is part of UAEBBY’s broader mission to instil a love for the Arabic language among younger generations. It promotes writing as a means of free expression and independent thought. By doing so, it helps embed the language deeply within young hearts.

The competition provides an opportunity for young people to develop their creative skills while engaging with literature. It serves as an initial step in building strong connections between young writers and the Arabic language.
