UAE National Team Achieves Seven Medals At World Jiu-Jitsu Championship In Bangkok
The UAE Jiu-Jitsu National Team began their campaign at the 2025 World Championships in Bangkok, Thailand, with a remarkable performance. The event, which runs from November 8 to 14, saw the team secure seven medals on the first day. This included two golds, two silvers, and three bronzes in the boys’ under-16 category.
Ali Alnajar and Hazza Alkaabi clinched gold in the 52kg and 56kg categories. Meanwhile, Rakan Alyammahi and Ghanem Alali earned silver in the 44kg and 52kg divisions. Bronze medals went to Mohammed Juma Aldarmaki, Khalfan Alqubaisi, and Fahad Saoud Aldhaheri in the 40kg, 56kg, and 62kg categories respectively.

The World Championships (U16, U18, U21) is a significant event organised by the Jiu-Jitsu International Federation. It provides teams worldwide a platform to compete across three age groups: under 16, under 18, and under 21. The UAE team's initial success highlights their preparation and skill.
Mubarak Saleh Al Menhali of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation praised the athletes' performances. He stated that these results signify a promising beginning for the national team in this prestigious competition. He emphasised that these achievements reflect their rigorous training programmes aimed at enhancing both skill and mental discipline.
Al Menhali remarked that today's outcomes showcase a new generation of athletes who align with their vision of nurturing champions capable of competing at top levels. He noted that investing in youth divisions is crucial for sustaining UAE Jiu-Jitsu's success.
Ali Alnajar expressed his joy after winning gold in the 52 kg category. "Winning gold at the World Championship has always been a dream for me," he said. "I’m proud to have raised the UAE flag on the global stage." He credited his victory to rigorous training and support from coaches.
Athletes Reflect on Their Success
Hazza Alkaabi also shared his thoughts after securing gold in the 56kg division. "The competition was strong from the first match," he said. "Our focus and team spirit pushed us to give our best." He described standing on the podium as an unforgettable moment.
The championship will continue on November 9 with competitions in the females’ under-16 category. The UAE team aims to build on their strong start by adding more medals to their tally as they progress through this major event.
