His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan during the second day of the World Governments Summit 2026, discussing bilateral ties and wider cooperation. The meeting took place as global leaders gathered in Dubai under the theme "Shaping Future Governments".

Sheikh Mohammed welcomed Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan and the Tanzanian delegation, praising their active role at the World Governments Summit 2026. The Summit is being held until 5th February and positions itself as a global meeting point for government leaders focused on future policy and institutional development.

During the discussions, Sheikh Mohammed and Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan reviewed the strong relationship between the UAE and Tanzania. They explored options to deepen cooperation in the economy, development, investment, trade and cultural exchange, with the aim of supporting long-term sustainable development in both countries and the wider region.

Sheikh Mohammed highlighted that stronger international partnerships between governments are essential for sustainable growth and better living standards. He stressed that wider cooperation supports a more prosperous and stable future worldwide, and noted the role of platforms like the World Governments Summit 2026 in enabling such dialogue and joint initiatives.

The President of Tanzania commended the UAE for its leadership in government development and its forward-looking approach to progress. Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan expressed a desire to further build cooperation with the UAE in key sectors, noting that the World Governments Summit helps bring leaders and decision-makers together to empower governments and advance innovation.

Dr. Samia Suluhu Hassan underlined the importance of the Summit in supporting international collaboration on shared challenges. She pointed to its role in improving coordination between public and private sectors, and said the World Governments Summit 2026 strengthens work on development, policy innovation and improved governance across different regions and economic systems.

The meeting was held in the presence of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Defence, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai. H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and H.H. Sheikh Mansoor bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, President of the UAE National Olympic Committee, also attended.

Further senior officials joined the talks, including H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum; Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State; Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President; Mohammad bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs and Chairman of the World Governments Summit Organisation; Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation; and Khalifa Al Marzouqi, Ambassador of the UAE to Tanzania.

The World Governments Summit 2026 gathers more than 60 heads of state and government and their deputies, over 500 ministers and delegates from more than 150 governments. It also includes more than 80 international and regional organisations and institutions, over 700 chief executives from major global companies, and a total attendance exceeding 6,250 participants, marking its largest leadership participation to date.
