UAE Key Supporter in Cuba's Renewable Energy Transition Projects: Prime Minister
During his participation in the World Governments Summit (WGS), Manuel Marrero, Prime Minister of Cuba, articulated Cuba's commitment to fortifying its relationship with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in various sectors. These sectors include renewable energy, agriculture, tourism, and biotechnology. The Prime Minister's statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) underscored the multifaceted nature of the UAE-Cuba partnership, which has seen significant momentum following the visit of President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez to the UAE in November last year.
Marrero highlighted the beneficial support from the UAE in advancing renewable energy initiatives within Cuba. This collaboration is instrumental in Cuba's strategy to transition its energy sector towards more sustainable sources. In agriculture, discussions are underway about potential UAE financing for joint food production projects in Cuba, aiming to bolster the island nation's food security and agricultural productivity.

The Cuban Prime Minister also shared insights into Cuba's achievements in gender equality and climate change mitigation at the summit. He proudly noted the substantial participation of women across all economic and social spheres in Cuba, emphasizing their equal rights and significant roles in labor matters. Marrero's discussion extended to Cuba's 'Tarea Vida' project, a comprehensive plan addressing climate change impacts through strategic investments slated for execution until 2100.
Marrero commended the UAE for hosting forums like the WGS, which he views as vital platforms for international dialogue on governance, internet, and artificial intelligence issues. The Prime Minister's engagement at the summit reflects Cuba's proactive stance on global cooperation and its dedication to sustainable development across key sectors.
