UAE Condemns Sudanese Armed Forces For Spreading False Allegations To Mislead International Community

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has accused the Sudanese Armed Forces of using various platforms to spread false claims against it. This, according to the UAE, is a tactic to mislead the global community and shift blame for the destruction in Sudan. Jamal Al Musharakh, the UAE's Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Geneva, highlighted these concerns during a Human Rights Council session.

Al Musharakh criticised the Sudanese Armed Forces for focusing on disinformation campaigns instead of working towards ending the civil war they initiated. He stated that these actions prolong the conflict and hinder genuine peace efforts. The UAE has requested a right of reply following remarks by a delegate representing one of Sudan's warring factions.

UAE Denounces False Claims by Sudanese Forces

The UAE remains committed to supporting efforts for an immediate ceasefire in Sudan. It urges both conflicting parties to adhere to their legal and humanitarian responsibilities. The UAE stresses that the interests of the Sudanese people should be prioritised, as they continue to suffer from this ongoing war.

Reports from the United Nations document severe violations of international law by both the Sudanese Armed Forces and Rapid Support Forces. Al Musharakh noted that despite efforts by the United States, supported by the UAE, a humanitarian truce was rejected by the Sudanese Armed Forces. This truce could have prevented further escalation in El Fasher and facilitated aid delivery.

The UAE reiterated its dedication to collaborating with regional and international partners, including the Quad, to initiate a comprehensive transitional process. This aims at establishing an independent civilian-led government free from control by any warring party. The UAE believes this is crucial for lasting peace in Sudan.

Al Musharakh urged those claiming achievements in other nations to reflect on their own country's destruction due to their actions. He emphasised that efforts should focus on rebuilding their nation rather than spreading misinformation.

"Nations are not built on massacres and destruction, but on peace, tolerance, and dialogue," Al Musharakh concluded. He reminded attendees that those seeking international sympathy now are responsible for past atrocities in Darfur and seizing power from a democratically elected government in 2021.
