UAE Stands With Lebanon: Successful Collection Of 250 Tonnes Of Supplies At Dubai Expo City
The "UAE stands with Lebanon" relief campaign, now in its second week, saw a significant collection drive at Dubai Expo City. This effort involved 2,000 volunteers and resulted in gathering 250 tonnes of essential supplies like food, medicine, and shelter equipment. The total aid collected so far has reached approximately 1,000 tonnes, thanks to the active participation of UAE charities and agencies.
The campaign was initiated under the guidance of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan are overseeing the efforts. The event was organised by Dubai Cares and the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) in collaboration with various humanitarian organisations.
Sultan Mohammed Al Shamsi highlighted the UAE's prominent role in global humanitarian efforts. He emphasised that this initiative continues the legacy of the UAE's Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. The leadership's vision is evident in their swift response to international crises.
Abdullah Ahmed Al Shehhi from Dubai Cares noted the worsening situation in Lebanon, which includes mass displacement. He stressed that such circumstances demand increased support. The UAE has consistently shown solidarity with communities facing severe challenges, as seen in their current assistance to Lebanon.
A total of 24 Emirati donor organisations contributed to this relief effort. Key participants included the ERC, Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, and Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.
Collaborative Efforts for Relief
Other notable contributors were the Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities Department in Dubai and Hamad Bin Mohammed Al Sharqi Foundation for Humanitarian Affairs. Additionally, Ahmad Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation for charitable works played a crucial role alongside Dubai Humanitarian and Sharjah Charity International.
The Big Heart Foundation and Emirates Foundation also participated actively. Volunteer groups like Volunteers.ae and Sharjah Volunteer Centre were instrumental in mobilising resources. Fujairah Charity Association and Watani Al Emarat Foundation further supported these efforts.
This collective endeavour underscores the UAE's commitment to aiding those in need globally. The nation's unified approach reflects its dedication to humanitarian causes, ensuring timely assistance reaches affected communities worldwide.
