UAE Space Agency Delegation Explores Collaborative Opportunities In Japan For Future Space Endeavours

A delegation from the UAE Space Agency, led by Dr Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, visited Japan to boost international cooperation in space exploration and advanced industries. This visit aligns with the UAE's strategy to foster a sustainable space economy and empower private sector involvement.

Dr Al Falasi highlighted the UAE's commitment to building a supportive global space ecosystem through partnerships. He stated, "The UAE operates with a clear and ambitious vision for the future of the space sector, guided by the National Space Strategy 2030, which seeks to build a sustainable space economy, support scientific research and empower the private sector to participate actively in space projects and technologies."

UAE Delegation Explores Space Collaboration in Japan

The delegation engaged with Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry officials, led by MATSUO Takehiko. Discussions centered on collaboration opportunities in developing industries related to space and supporting innovation in exploration technologies.

Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director-General of the UAE Space Agency, remarked on the importance of this visit. "This visit represents a significant milestone in our excellent working relationship with Japan, one of the world’s foremost space leaders," he said. The visit reinforced strategic partnerships between both nations.

The delegation toured Mitsubishi Heavy Industries' Tobeshima plant, focusing on spacecraft and satellite manufacturing. Dr Al Falasi met Iwao Igarashi from MHI to discuss enhancing collaboration in manufacturing and knowledge transfer.

During their time at JAXA Tsukuba Space Centre, Dr Hiroshi Yamakawa presented Japan's leading initiatives in advanced sensing systems and deep space exploration. This exchange aimed at fostering joint projects that enhance national capabilities.

Future Collaborations

Al Qubaisi emphasized that cooperation between the UAE and Japan marks a new phase of scientific partnerships benefiting both regions. He noted that these efforts will drive progress globally within the space community.

Dr Al Falasi added that this visit underscores the UAE's role as an international collaboration bridge. "Our visit to Japan reflects our country’s commitment to its role as a bridge for international collaboration," he stated.

The UAE Space Agency is keen on supporting ambitious national programmes through these partnerships. Such collaborations open new opportunities for science, technology, and exploration advancements worldwide.
