UAE Dispatches 30 Tonnes Of Medical Supplies To Chad Amid Cholera Outbreak
The United Arab Emirates has dispatched 30 tonnes of medical supplies, including emergency medicines, to Chad. This initiative aims to combat the cholera outbreak in the region. Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, emphasised that under President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's leadership, the UAE remains dedicated to tackling health challenges worldwide. The country collaborates with international organisations and relevant entities to develop effective solutions.
The World Health Organisation recently raised alarms about the worsening global cholera situation. It reported over 390,000 cases and 4,332 deaths in 31 countries this year alone. The alert highlighted Chad as one of the affected nations, prompting urgent responses from countries like the UAE.
Dr. Al Ameri stated that the UAE's swift humanitarian response demonstrates its unwavering commitment to enhancing global efforts against diseases. By providing timely medical treatments, the UAE aims to ensure both prevention and cure for affected populations.
The UAE Aid Agency will continue its foreign aid programmes aligned with national policies on international humanitarian affairs. These initiatives include relief plans, early recovery programmes, and stabilisation efforts aimed at improving living conditions in crisis-hit communities.
