UAE And Rwanda Embark On New Era Of Cooperation With Joint Economic Committee

Noura Al Kaabi, Minister of State, recently engaged in pivotal discussions with Paul Kagame, President of the Republic of Rwanda. Their meeting in Kigali marked the inaugural session of the Joint Economic Committee between the UAE and Rwanda, setting a significant milestone aimed at bolstering cooperation and partnership opportunities between the two nations. This initiative underscores a mutual commitment to enhancing relations that are beneficial for both countries and their citizens.

Al Kaabi highlighted the substantial progress in bilateral relations over recent years, emphasizing the shared commitment of both nations to strengthen these ties further. The UAE and Rwanda have established themselves as trade and investment partners, with a focus on attracting investments in emerging economic sectors. The session, co-chaired by Al Kaabi and Vincent Biruta, Rwanda's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, explored avenues for cooperation across various sectors including industry, energy, education, space technology, and more.

UAE-Rwanda Forge Stronger Ties

The discussions aimed at setting a strategic framework to expand opportunities and partnerships, fostering prosperous joint efforts across diverse fields. Both parties discussed mechanisms to enhance economic coordination, trade, and investment. They also deliberated on strengthening cooperation under the Double Taxation Agreements and the Promotion and Protection of Investments Agreement.

Highlighting their commitment to collaboration, both sides expressed their intent to boost investments in space technology. They also showed keenness in developing trade opportunities in food products, environment and energy sectors, economic empowerment of youth, and investing in technical and creative industries. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for cooperation in education was signed, marking a significant step towards achieving these goals.

This meeting between the UAE and Rwanda represents a continuation of efforts to enhance bilateral relations and explore new partnership prospects within various business sectors. It sets a roadmap towards expanding opportunities that will foster joint collaborations in fields of common interest, aiming for a future of prosperous mutual growth.
