UAE-Oman Railway Project Enters Implementation Phase: Hafeet Rail CEO Confirms

The railway project linking the Sultanate of Oman with the United Arab Emirates has officially transitioned into its implementation phase, as confirmed by Ahmed Al Musawa Al Hashemi, CEO of Hafeet Rail. This significant development was announced amidst the joint UAE-Oman Business Forum held in Abu Dhabi, marking a pivotal moment for both nations.

Al Hashemi detailed the progression of the project, noting the initial steps of signing partnership agreements and awarding key contracts to a UAE-Omani consortium. This alliance, comprising companies from both countries, signifies a collaborative effort towards achieving mutual economic and social advancements.

The CEO underscored the project's anticipated benefits, including enhanced safety, security, and environmental sustainability of the railway system. He expressed optimism that this venture will not only facilitate passenger movement but also invigorate tourism and strengthen bilateral relations.

Spanning from the Al Wathba area in the UAE to Sohar city and port in Oman, the railway traverses a variety of landscapes. Its route encompasses desert expanses, mountainous terrains, and valleys, closely following Jebel Hafeet's contours. This geographical diversity underscores the project's complexity and its potential to connect disparate regions seamlessly.

In a significant reveal at the business forum, Hafeet Rail's new brand identity was introduced. The company, formerly known as "Oman and Etihad Rail Company", has adopted this new identity to better reflect its mission and aspirations within this ambitious cross-border infrastructure project.

This railway initiative is poised to act as a driving force for further economic and industrial collaboration between the UAE and Oman. By linking key destinations and facilitating smoother travel and trade flows, it promises to unlock new opportunities for growth and integration between the two countries.
