UAE National MMA Championship 2023 Ends In Al Ain With Impressive Local Talent On Display
The UAE National MMA Championship's fifth edition wrapped up after two days of intense matches at the UAE University's sports hall in Al Ain. The event, organised by the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, showcased impressive performances from both Youth A (16–17 years) and Adults (18 years and above) categories. Competitors displayed discipline and composure, reflecting their growing experience and structured training.
The competition's high standard underscored the sport's development and athletes' readiness for advanced local and international events. Mubarak Al Menhali, Technical Director at the UAE Jiu-Jitsu and Mixed Martial Arts Federation, noted the championship's high level of competition, particularly in youth and adult categories. He stated, "UAE National MMA Championship 5 featured a high level of competition, especially in the youth and adults categories. Athletes showed clear technical progress, with good control of their bouts and strong decision-making throughout each fight."

Al Menhali praised the clubs' efforts in physical preparation and tactical understanding. He added that such championships help assess athletes for international events, identifying those ready to compete at higher levels. This sentiment was echoed by Kuma Kaliev, a coach at Kuma Team in Dubai. Kaliev observed that athletes entered well-prepared physically and mentally, applying their training effectively despite tough competition.
Kaliev remarked on the serious approach clubs take in preparing teams for top positions. "Today’s results show the effort our athletes have put in over the past weeks," he said. These championships test athletes under pressure, helping coaches understand performance levels and areas needing improvement before future events.
Omar Al Marzoqi from ADMA Academy won gold in the Youth A featherweight category. He shared his thoughts on facing opponents with diverse styles and high fitness levels. "Competition in this edition was different," he said. Al Marzoqi expressed pride in his performance, viewing this championship as a crucial step in his career to identify areas for improvement before advancing to higher-level competitions.
