UAE's Sheikh Shakhboot Commemorates 30th Anniversary Of Tutsi Genocide In Rwanda
During a significant diplomatic visit to Kigali, the capital of Rwanda, Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of State, engaged in pivotal discussions with President Paul Kagame. This meeting underscored the robust bilateral relations between the United Arab Emirates and Rwanda, focusing on enhancing cooperation across various sectors and addressing mutual interests.
Sheikh Shakhboot extended the warm greetings and well-wishes of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Rwanda, emphasizing hopes for the nation's continued security, stability, and peace. In response, President Kagame reciprocated with greetings and expressed his aspirations for the UAE's ongoing progress and prosperity.
The visit also coincided with a momentous occasion—the 30th anniversary of the Genocide against the Tutsi. A national week of mourning was announced by President Kagame to honor this solemn anniversary. The commemoration saw numerous heads of state and government representatives, alongside international and regional organizations, come together in solidarity.
At the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a site dedicated to the victims of the genocide against the Tutsi in Rwanda, President Kagame and attending dignitaries laid wreaths. This act of remembrance also served as a platform to acknowledge Rwanda's journey towards reconciliation and national rebuilding.
In his remarks, Sheikh Shakhboot highlighted the significance of this anniversary in promoting global tolerance, coexistence, and acceptance without discrimination.
