UAE Calls For Ceasefire, Urgent Humanitarian Aid To Palestine At Islamic Conference

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has made a significant call for global cooperation to address the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Palestine. Highlighting the urgency of the situation, the UAE delegation, led by Sheikh Abdulla bin Mohammed Al Hamed, stressed the importance of an immediate ceasefire during the Islamic Conference of Information Ministers (ICIM) in Turkey. The aim is to halt the loss of innocent lives and ensure the provision of critical humanitarian aid.

During the conference, discussions revolved around countering Israeli disinformation and protecting journalists and media outlets in occupied Palestine. The UAE's efforts are not only diplomatic but also humanitarian, focusing on civilian protection, facility preservation, and the establishment of humanitarian corridors. As a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council, the UAE played a pivotal role in advocating for Resolutions 2712 and 2720, which aim to enhance humanitarian aid to Palestinians and safeguard UN employees and humanitarian workers.

UAE Seeks Peace, Aid for Palestine

The UAE's stance includes condemning forced displacement and violations of international law while advocating for a just peace that guarantees regional security and stability. This vision aligns with the broader goal of combating extremism and violence and supports a two-state solution that recognizes an independent Palestinian state.

Under President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's directives, the UAE has launched "Gallant Knight 3," an operation dedicated to delivering urgent humanitarian and relief aid to Gaza. This initiative sees collaboration between UAE institutions specializing in humanitarian efforts and international organizations. An air bridge has been established to transport over 20,000 tonnes of essential supplies, including food, water, and medical resources to Gaza.

Furthermore, the UAE has set up desalination plants and a fully-equipped field hospital, along with a floating hospital in Egypt to bolster Gaza's health sector. President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has also directed UAE hospitals to provide medical treatment for 1,000 children and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza.

In his concluding remarks, Sheikh Abdulla reaffirmed the UAE's dedication to delivering vital humanitarian aid to Palestinians. He emphasized the nation's commitment to alleviating their suffering in alignment with its values and leadership principles. This gesture underscores the UAE's role in fostering international collaboration towards ending the crisis in Palestine.
