UAE Launches Comprehensive National Cybersecurity Strategy To Strengthen Digital Security Framework
The UAE is set to unveil its National Cybersecurity Strategy this week, as announced by Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, Head of the UAE Cyber Security Council. This initiative aligns with the nation's aim to adapt to significant changes in various sectors, especially in advanced technology, reinforcing its role in artificial intelligence and the digital economy.
Dr. Al Kuwaiti shared insights at the World Government Summit 2025 in Dubai. He explained that the strategy, approved by the UAE Cabinet, spans five years and focuses on five main pillars. These pillars are crafted to support safe and swift technological innovation while maintaining a secure digital environment.

The strategy aims to bolster the national economy and safeguard critical infrastructure through specific goals and initiatives. Dr. Al Kuwaiti highlighted that global cyber threats caused losses of approximately $10 trillion in 2024, prompting the UAE to enhance its cybersecurity measures following international standards.
In response to these challenges, the UAE has allocated over $2 billion towards cybersecurity and digital transformation efforts. This investment underscores the country's commitment to strengthening its digital security framework.
The Cybersecurity Council is finalising several policies, including a cryptography policy set for implementation in early 2025. Additionally, new cybersecurity standards are being developed to improve institutional compliance and security protocols.
Dr. Al Kuwaiti emphasised that these initiatives are crucial for ensuring a resilient digital landscape capable of supporting rapid technological advancements while protecting against potential cyber threats.
This comprehensive approach reflects the UAE's proactive stance in addressing cybersecurity challenges, aiming to create a robust framework that supports both economic growth and technological innovation.
