UAE President's Visit To Kuwait Enhances Strategic Partnership For Development And Prosperity
The upcoming visit of UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Kuwait on 10th November marks a pivotal moment in strengthening the longstanding ties between the two nations. This visit aims to enhance cooperation across various sectors, reinforcing their strategic partnership and opening new avenues for collaboration.
Both countries have a rich history of diplomatic relations, with Kuwait being one of the first to establish official ties with the UAE after its formation in 1971. The UAE opened its embassy in Kuwait in 1972, and Kuwait reciprocated by establishing its embassy in Abu Dhabi the same year. This foundation has led to robust social and economic connections over the years.

The economic partnership between the UAE and Kuwait continues to flourish, driven by shared visions like "We the UAE 2031" and "Kuwait Vision 2035". In 2023, non-oil trade between them reached $12.198 billion, a rise from previous years. The UAE is a major destination for Kuwaiti exports, while also being a key import market for Kuwait.
Investment flows have been significant as well. From 2019 to 2023, investments from the UAE into Kuwait amounted to $1.087 billion, while Kuwaiti investments in the UAE totaled $194.7 million. These figures highlight the mutual interest in strengthening economic ties through industrial, commercial, and investment ventures.
Cultural and educational exchanges further cement the relationship between these nations. Numerous agreements have been signed to promote collaboration in culture, education, and arts. Currently, there are 1,725 Kuwaiti students studying at universities in the UAE, with more encouraged to join under new initiatives aimed at boosting educational cooperation.
Tourism also plays a crucial role in their relationship. In 2023, over 381,000 Kuwaiti tourists visited the UAE compared to 250,000 in 2022. Meanwhile, Emirati tourists visiting Kuwait numbered 42,236 from January to September 2024. National carriers operate numerous weekly flights between both countries.
Commitment to Regional Stability
The UAE and Kuwait share a common vision for regional peace and stability. They advocate for diplomatic dialogue to resolve disputes while adhering to international law. Both countries actively support peaceful solutions to conflicts within the region alongside international partners.

Kuwait's involvement included joining the Climate Change Alliance launched by the UAE, reflecting their joint efforts towards achieving global environmental goals set during COP28 through collaborative projects aimed at reducing carbon emissions worldwide.
