UAE Strengthens Energy Ties At Southern Gas Corridor Council's 10th Meeting In Baku

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has recently marked a significant presence in the Republic of Azerbaijan, with Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, leading a high-level delegation to partake in pivotal energy and green energy advisory council meetings. The delegation's participation in the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council and the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council underscores the UAE's commitment to fostering international collaborations in the energy sector.

The meetings, inaugurated by Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, saw participation from ministers of energy, oil and gas, alongside senior officials and representatives from 23 countries, more than 10 international organisations, and 44 companies. President Aliyev hailed the SGC as a triumph in Eurasia's infrastructure landscape, highlighting its three years of successful operation and its crucial role in enhancing energy security and cooperation among nations.

UAE Engages in Key Energy Meeting in Baku

During their visit, Al Mazrouei and his delegation engaged in discussions with key Azerbaijani officials. Meetings with Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy of Azerbaijan and Chairman of the UAE-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Commission on Economy, Trade and Technical Cooperation, as well as Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy of Azerbaijan, focused on bolstering cooperation across various sectors. These sectors include economic collaboration, energy, renewable energy initiatives, and enhancing energy security.

Al Mazrouei emphasized the profound and multifaceted relationship between the UAE and Azerbaijan. He noted that their partnership extends beyond mere economic ties to encompass a shared commitment to renewable energy and sustainable development. This relationship is further strengthened by the support from the leaderships of both nations.

The UAE delegation comprised senior officials from government agencies and the private sector. Notable participants included representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Masdar (the Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company), ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company), and TAQA (Abu Dhabi National Energy Company). This diverse representation underscores the UAE's holistic approach to international cooperation in the energy sector.

This engagement between the UAE and Azerbaijan reflects a mutual understanding of the importance of renewable energy and sustainable development for future prosperity. It also highlights the UAE's role as a proactive participant in global energy discussions, aiming to foster partnerships that lead to tangible advancements in energy security and sustainability.
