UAE Joins Oman In Celebrating Its 55th National Day And Strengthening Ties
The United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the Sultanate of Oman celebrate Oman's 55th National Day together on 20th November. This celebration highlights their strong historical ties and strategic partnership. The UAE's participation in this event reflects the deep connections between the two nations, which are continually reinforced through high-level meetings and ongoing dialogue.
Relations between the UAE and Oman extend across political, economic, social, and cultural domains. The Joint Higher Committee, established in 1991, has been instrumental in enhancing cooperation. This partnership is a cornerstone for Gulf and Arab integration, contributing significantly to the cohesion of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

The economic relationship between these countries showcases a mature partnership with promising growth prospects. Non-oil trade reached AED54.3 billion in 2024, marking a 7% increase from 2023 and a 12% rise from 2022. In the first half of 2025 alone, non-oil trade amounted to AED30 billion, reflecting a year-on-year increase of 14.5%.
Oman stands as the UAE’s second-largest trading partner within the GCC, accounting for 16.3% of its non-oil trade with Gulf states. It ranks third among GCC markets for UAE exports and fourth in the Arab world, receiving 17% of UAE imports from GCC countries.
The UAE is a leading destination for Omani investment, attracting 42% of Oman’s foreign investments by the end of 2024, valued at OMR945.4 million (US$2.45 billion). Additionally, the UAE ranks as the third-largest investor in Oman with investments totalling OMR638.4 million ($1.66 billion).
In May 2025, both nations signed an agreement to develop Al Rawdah Special Economic Zone in Al Buraimi, Oman. Earlier in April 2024, they agreed on investments worth AED129 billion focusing on renewable energy, green metals, rail connectivity, and digital infrastructure.
Cultural Heritage and Celebrations
The cultural heritage shared by the UAE and Oman is rich in arts and literature, creating a cohesive identity for their populations. Annually during Oman's National Day celebrations, various events are held across the UAE including illuminating landmarks with the Omani flag and welcoming Omani visitors with roses at border crossings.
On its National Day this year, Oman continues its journey of development marked by numerous achievements and reforms under Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said’s leadership.
The relationship between these two nations continues to thrive under visionary leaders President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE and Sultan Haitham bin Tariq Al Said of Oman.
