UAE Participates In Key Energy Security Meeting In Baku With Global Leaders

In a significant move to bolster international energy cooperation, Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei, the UAE Minister of Energy and Infrastructure, led a high-level delegation to the Republic of Azerbaijan. The visit was aimed at participating in the 10th Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) Advisory Council and the 2nd Ministerial Meeting of the Green Energy Advisory Council. These pivotal meetings were inaugurated by Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and saw participation from an impressive assembly of ministers of energy, oil and gas, senior officials, and government representatives from 23 countries, alongside more than 10 international organisations and 44 companies.

During his opening address, President Aliyev highlighted the SGC as a beacon of success, having been operational for three years. He underscored its critical role in enhancing energy security and fostering cooperation across Eurasia. This infrastructure project stands as a testament to the collaborative efforts aimed at ensuring a stable and secure energy supply in the region.

UAE at Energy Security Meeting in Baku

On the sidelines of these meetings, Al Mazrouei engaged in discussions with key Azerbaijani officials including Mikayil Jabbarov, Minister of Economy and Chairman of the UAE-Azerbaijan Intergovernmental Commission on Economy, Trade and Technical Cooperation, and Parviz Shahbazov, Minister of Energy. These discussions centred around bolstering cooperation across various sectors such as economic development, energy, renewable energy sources, and energy security.

Al Mazrouei emphasized the profound and multifaceted relationship between the UAE and Azerbaijan, which extends beyond mere trade and economic ties. He highlighted the mutual commitment to a future powered by renewable energy and sustainable development, supported by the leaderships of both nations.

The UAE delegation comprised senior officials from government agencies and key players in the private sector. Notable participants included representatives from the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure, Masdar, ADNOC (Abu Dhabi National Oil Company), and Abu Dhabi National Energy Company (TAQA). This diverse representation underscores the UAE's comprehensive approach to international cooperation in energy and infrastructure development.

This visit not only reinforces the strong bilateral relations between the UAE and Azerbaijan but also underscores their shared vision for a sustainable future. Through such international collaborations, both nations aim to lead by example in promoting renewable energy initiatives and securing energy supplies for their regions and beyond.
