UAE Elevates Renewable Energy Dialogue As Guest Of Honor In China's Prestigious Battery Conference

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be the Guest of Honour at the Global Energy Batteries Conference in Yibin City, Sichuan Province, China, on September 1st and 2nd, 2024. This event is hosted by the Sichuan Provincial Government under the theme "New Quality Energy for a Green Future."

The conference will feature 11 major events, including a roundtable on international energy battery companies' development, exhibitions of achievements, environmental exploration activities, and six high-level forums. Topics will cover the integration of China's energy battery industry with finance and more.

UAE Leads at China Battery Event

The UAE's national pavilion will showcase prominent government entities and leading Emirati companies. Participants include the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology, Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, Masdar, UAE University, New York University - Abu Dhabi, KEZAD Group, and Titan Lithium. These entities will highlight their advancements in renewable energy, technology, innovation, and industry.

Hussain Ibrahim Al Hammadi, the UAE Ambassador to China, delivered a keynote address at the conference's opening. He emphasised the strong cooperative relationship between the two countries. "This conference provides a unique platform to present our shared vision for a more sustainable future," he stated.

Al Hammadi highlighted that this participation aligns with the UAE's policy on supporting sustainable practices and addressing climate change challenges. He noted that advanced battery manufacturing technologies are crucial for sustainable energy solutions. This importance is heightened amid the transition to clean and renewable energy.

He added that through this conference, they aim to showcase UAE's achievements and strengthen ties with China. "Together, we can turn our ambitions into a more prosperous and sustainable future for all," he said.

The conference is a significant global event in the energy battery industry. It has been held successfully in Yibin for two consecutive years. This year’s attendees include leaders from the world's top ten energy battery companies and representatives from 25 Fortune 500 companies.

Global Participation

Additionally, over 180 global companies such as CATL, Tesla, and BYD are participating. Experts and major company executives will deliver keynote speeches at the event.

The UAE is China's largest non-oil trading partner in the Middle East and North Africa. Non-oil trade volume between them reached $82 billion in 2023. Since establishing diplomatic relations in 1984, non-oil trade has increased nearly 800 times.

The UAE's participation underscores its commitment to innovation and international cooperation in sustainable development. The collaboration between UAE and China continues to expand within their comprehensive strategic partnership established during Chinese President Xi Jinping's visit to the UAE in 2018.

This engagement reflects both nations' shared goal of promoting sustainable development globally. The UAE aims to contribute significantly to global dialogue on transitioning towards clean energy through this platform.

The event also includes many prominent academics and experts from China and abroad. More than 80 listed companies are attending alongside representatives from 15 state-owned enterprises.

The UAE's role was evident during COP28 at Expo City Dubai last November. This event served as a roadmap for correcting global climate action courses.

By participating as Guest of Honour at this conference, the UAE demonstrates its dedication to fostering international cooperation for a greener future.
