UAE Reinforces Its Position As A Global Philanthropy And Humanitarian Leader
H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, highlighted the UAE's prominent role in global philanthropy. He attributed this to the visionary leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The President's dedication to development initiatives has significantly benefited various communities.
Sheikh Nahyan made these remarks on International Day of Charity, observed annually on 5th September. He noted that philanthropy is deeply ingrained in UAE culture, a legacy from the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. This tradition continues through the efforts of numerous charitable institutions in the country.

The Zayed Humanitarian Foundation is actively working on several new projects aimed at sustainable development. One notable project is a rehabilitation centre for people with disabilities in Kazakhstan. This centre will support 5,550 children with physical disabilities, including those with mobility challenges and cerebral palsy. The project is slated for completion by Q3 2026.
Additionally, the Foundation is constructing two schools in Tajikistan, one in Mahtar Danghara village and another in Timur Maliq district. Each school will accommodate 144 students and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
Dr Mohammed Ateeq Al Falahi, Director-General of the Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, stated that under wise leadership, the UAE's charitable sector has evolved significantly. "The UAE's charitable institutions have maximised their resources to support a wide range of philanthropic and development projects, benefitting millions in targeted communities and countries."
Al Falahi also emphasised that charitable work has become synonymous with the UAE and its people. The enduring legacy of Sheikh Zayed has ensured that these efforts continue to grow and develop.
Celebrating Decades of Philanthropy
The Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation will mark International Day of Charity tomorrow, celebrating 32 years of global philanthropy. Since its establishment in 1992, the Foundation has assisted more than 188 countries worldwide.
During the first eight months of 2024 alone, approximately 1.1 million individuals have benefited from the Foundation's programmes within and outside the UAE. These initiatives include educational aid, health assistance, Iftar programmes, winter relief, Eid sacrifices, Ramadan food parcels, debt relief for women, among other diverse projects.
Sheikh Nahyan commended UAE charitable organisations for enhancing the nation's global reputation in relief and development work over past decades. He pointed out ongoing efforts to make philanthropy a pillar of sustainable development for future generations.
The UAE’s commitment to humanitarian work remains steadfast as it continues to support various communities worldwide through its extensive charitable initiatives.
