UAE Exhibitions And Conferences Industry Plays Key Role In Economic Growth And Diversification
The UAE's exhibitions and conferences sector remains a cornerstone of economic growth, aligning with the nation's vision for a diversified, knowledge-based economy. This industry has rapidly advanced in hosting international events, supported by top-tier infrastructure and a mix of local talent and global expertise. This combination positions the UAE as a leading hub for large-scale exhibitions and conferences both regionally and globally.
In 2025, the sector continued to perform strongly, driving economic diversification and creating new growth opportunities across key industries. It also maintained its role in hosting high-profile international events. The ADNEC Group significantly contributed to this success, with AED8.5 billion added directly to the UAE’s GDP in 2024, up from AED7.4 billion in 2023.

ADNEC venues like Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, Al Ain Convention Centre, and Excel London hosted over 1,000 events in 2024. These events attracted a record-breaking 5.4 million visitors, marking the highest attendance in the group's history. Capital Events, ADNEC’s event management arm, facilitated AED10 billion in business deals through its exhibitions.
The Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) also recorded exceptional economic performance in 2024. According to its economic impact report, DWTC hosted 100 major events—a 32% annual increase—comprising international exhibitions and high-level conferences. These events drew over 2 million attendees and generated AED22.35 billion in total economic output.
Approximately AED13.04 billion from DWTC's total output was retained within Dubai’s local GDP. Notably, around 936,000 international visitors attended DWTC events, reinforcing Dubai’s status as a global business tourism destination. This strong performance aligns with the launch of DWTC’s expansion project set for completion in 2026.
Expo Centre Sharjah (ECS) plays a crucial role in supporting the national exhibitions industry by driving growth across various sectors aligned with sustainable development goals. In 2025, ECS plans to host specialised events focusing on key sectors such as industry, smart transportation, trade, healthcare, perfumery, and jewellery.
Future Prospects for Expo Centres
ECS and its branches in Khor Fakkan and Al Dhaid achieved significant milestones in 2024 by organising and hosting 80 major exhibitions—a 60% increase compared to 2023. These events featured prominent companies and brands while attracting nearly 3 million visitors from within the UAE and abroad.
Capital Hospitality provided over 40 million meals across 45 locations while managing approximately 2,200 events. Among these was one of the region’s largest public iftars serving nearly 8,000 guests. The group’s hotel portfolio also welcomed over 1.531 million guests during this period.
The ongoing expansion at DWTC aims to enhance Dubai's capacity to host mega-events further solidifying its role as an innovation-driven economic hub. With these developments underway across various centres throughout UAE regions like Abu Dhabi or Sharjah among others; it is evident that this sector will continue playing an integral part towards achieving sustainable development objectives nationally.
