Majlon's Origins and Objectives
The term "Majlon" is derived from combining the Emirati "Majlis" with the French "Salon". The initiative addresses key issues of mutual interest while deepening French-Emirati bonds. It also facilitates trade exchange and economic cooperation between both nations.
Caterina Lo Mascolo Minthe, editor of the Majlon book and founder of Mazara Edition, expressed her enthusiasm: "We are thrilled to present this essential work to the public, confident that it will serve as an indispensable guide for anyone seeking a deeper understanding of the shared values between the United Arab Emirates and France. These ideals have not only shaped our past but will continue to influence the world we live in."
Historical Context
Since its inception in 2022, Majlon has brought together numerous prominent dignitaries from France and UAE. These meetings have highlighted various subjects including space exploration, cultural exchanges, interfaith dialogue, and innovation.
Hend Al Otaiba further noted: "The French-Emirati friendship is primarily built by dedicated men and women who understand the necessity of strengthening ties between peoples. This event today underscores the significance of the Majlon community which is committed to dialogue between civilisations and building bridges between East and West."
