UAE Utilises Economic And Diplomatic Strength To Enhance Geopolitical Relationships At BRIDGE Summit 2025
During the BRIDGE Summit 2025, Sir Liam Fox, Chairman of the Abraham Accords Prosperity Group, highlighted a shift in perception towards the Gulf region. He noted that people now view it as a land of opportunity. His comments were made during a session titled ‘The New Gravity of Power, From Washington to the Gulf,’ where he discussed the Gulf's emerging role as a diplomatic power amid global media changes.
Sir Liam, who previously served as the UK Secretary of State for Defence, emphasised that this is an opportune moment for investments in the region. He pointed out that countries like the UAE are leveraging their economic and diplomatic influence to strengthen geopolitical ties. The UAE's capital-rich environment and its young, educated population are attracting investors.

Andrew Sollinger, CEO and Publisher of Foreign Policy, noted both conflict and stabilisation in the region. Since joining Foreign Policy in 2018, he has transformed it into a multi-platform intelligence company through subscription growth and strategic partnerships. Christopher Isham from CT Intelligence remarked on the region’s strategic vision contributing to geopolitical realignment.
Isham also addressed how artificial intelligence is influencing news dissemination. He cautioned against censorship and misinformation, stressing that online platforms must build trust with audiences to combat these issues. Isham has been recognised with multiple awards for excellence in journalism.
The discussion was moderated by Resham Kotecha, Global Head of Policy at the Open Data Institute (ODI). With over 15 years in policy and public affairs, she regularly speaks on technology and data ethics. The panel was part of an extensive program at BRIDGE Summit 2025, which included over 300 sessions reflecting its ambitious scope.
Sir Liam Fox further elaborated on how countries like the UAE are using their strengths to enhance geopolitical relationships. He mentioned that investors are drawn to the UAE due to its wealth of capital and educated youth. This environment presents significant opportunities for economic growth.
The session underscored how strategic vision from countries within the Gulf is reshaping global geopolitics. The insights shared by experts like Andrew Sollinger and Christopher Isham highlighted both challenges and opportunities present in the region today.
The BRIDGE Summit 2025 provided a platform for discussing these critical issues with leaders from various sectors contributing their perspectives on future developments in global diplomacy and media landscapes.
