UAE's EO AMLCTF And Dubai Police Unite To Fight Financial Crimes

In a pivotal move to strengthen the United Arab Emirates' efforts in combating financial crimes, the UAE Executive Office of Anti-Money Laundering and Counter Terrorism Financing (EO AMLCTF) has joined forces with Dubai Police through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This collaboration aims to bolster the nation's capabilities in investigating and addressing financial crimes more effectively. The MoU was signed during the third edition of the World Police Summit, which took place from 5th to 7th at the World Trade Centre in Dubai.

The agreement was formalized by Hamid Al Zaabi, Director-General of the EO AMLCTF, and Expert Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Criminal Investigation Affairs at Dubai Police. This partnership marks a significant step forward in the joint efforts to combat money laundering and financial crimes within the UAE.

UAE and Dubai Police Combat Financial Crimes

Hamid Al Zaabi highlighted the critical role of police forces in the fight against financial crimes, noting their key position in spearheading investigations and collaborating with prosecutors to secure convictions. He pointed out that law enforcement agencies have successfully executed several high-profile arrests related to financial crimes in recent years, significantly contributing to the security of the national economy. The initiatives outlined in this MoU are expected to further enhance these capabilities and send a strong message against financial crimes within the UAE.

On his part, Expert Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri underscored the MoU as a testament to Dubai Police's ongoing efforts, in cooperation with relevant entities, to improve mechanisms for combating financial crimes. He also mentioned the remarkable success achieved under the wise leadership's directives, which recently led to the removal of the United Arab Emirates from the FATF (Financial Action Task Force) grey list. He emphasized that through collaborative efforts, both parties aim to develop tools and strategies that meet strategic objectives and establish effective mechanisms to decisively confront financial crimes.

The newly signed MoU between the EO AMLCTF and Dubai Police reaffirms their commitment to enhancing cooperation through the exchange of information, conducting joint awareness campaigns, and launching academic programs. These initiatives are designed to develop specialized competencies in tackling financial crimes. Additionally, both entities will focus on creating strategies and technological solutions to navigate the evolving challenges posed by financial crimes, ensuring a robust defense against such illicit activities within the UAE.
