UAE Confirms Targeted Attack By Sudanese Army On Its Ambassador’s Residence In Khartoum

The UAE has expressed strong disapproval of a recent attack by the Sudanese army on the residence of its ambassador in Khartoum. Salem Al Jaberi, Assistant Minister for Security and Military Affairs, confirmed that the assault caused significant damage to the building and its surroundings. This act violates the principle of diplomatic premises' inviolability, as well as international norms like the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations.

Al Jaberi highlighted that there is undeniable evidence proving the targeting of the ambassador's residence. This evidence contradicts claims made by Sudan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Armed Forces. He criticised these entities for trying to evade responsibility for Sudan's humanitarian crisis by misleading the global community and diverting attention from their obligations to end the conflict.

UAE Confirms Attack on Ambassador's Residence

In response to this incident, over 100 countries and several international organisations have condemned the attack and expressed solidarity with the UAE. Al Jaberi expressed gratitude for this widespread support against what he termed a cowardly act. The UAE remains committed to working with partners towards a peaceful resolution in Sudan.

Al Jaberi also invited United Nations experts to examine the evidence and assess the damage caused by this attack. He emphasised that these actions are part of an ongoing agenda against the UAE, which has been refuted by factual evidence over nine months.

The Assistant Minister criticised Sudanese Armed Forces for denying responsibility and blaming others while ignoring their role in Sudan's suffering. Their refusal to acknowledge accountability shows disregard for Sudanese people's aspirations for stability and prosperity. Al Jaberi stressed that such behaviour undermines efforts to resolve the conflict peacefully.

The UAE continues its diligent efforts alongside international partners to achieve peace in Sudan. Al Jaberi reiterated that misleading narratives from Sudan's authorities aim to distract from their failure to address humanitarian issues effectively.

This situation highlights ongoing challenges in achieving stability in Sudan amidst conflicting narratives and international diplomatic tensions. The UAE remains focused on promoting peace despite these obstacles.
