Omar Al Marzouqi from the national equestrian team and Safiya Al Sayegh from the national cycling team carried the UAE flag during the opening ceremony. The UAE delegation made their entrance by boat on the River Seine during the flag bearers' episode, which began with Greece as it is considered the birthplace of the Olympic Games.

French President Emmanuel Macron inaugurated the ceremony from Trocadéro Square near the Eiffel Tower. Thomas Bach, President of the International Olympic Committee, along with several world leaders and government officials were also present. The event started with a video at Stade de France featuring comedian Jamel Debbouze and former footballer Zinedine Zidane.

Paris transformed into a grand performance space stretching 6 km along the River Seine. The route passed by notable French landmarks like Notre-Dame Cathedral. According to organisers, about 600,000 spectators watched from specially constructed stands along the riverbanks, while another 200,000 viewed from nearby balconies.

A diverse group of international sports figures took turns carrying the torch. French footballer Zinedine Zidane started this segment followed by Spanish tennis player Rafael Nadal. They were joined by American tennis champion Serena Williams and fellow athletes swimmer Michael Phelps and runner Carl Lewis. Several French Olympic champions also participated before lighting the suspended Olympic cauldron.

Commitment to Excellence

He highlighted their dedication over years of hard work under well-planned training programmes supervised by sports federations to ensure they represent their country effectively against top global athletes.

He noted that regular monitoring of activities and programmes showed determination among athletes and their teams to achieve readiness for this significant event. Many athletes stayed in external training camps for extended periods before the Games began despite family-related occasions to ensure they represented their state admirably in major sporting events.

He emphasised continuous coordination aimed at supporting participating athletes in their mission. Everyone shared a belief in representing their country proudly through achieving commendable accomplishments during overall participation.
