UAE Places Children's Best Interests At The Core Of National Policies And Decisions
H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court for Development and Fallen Heroes’ Affairs, emphasised that safeguarding children's rights and ensuring their wellbeing is a top priority for the UAE. The nation focuses on children's best interests in all decisions and policies. This commitment aligns with President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's directive to mark 2026 as the "Year of Family."
On World Children’s Day, H.H. Sheikh Theyab highlighted the importance of creating a safe environment that respects children's rights and supports their growth within strong families and communities. This year's theme, "Listen to the future! Stand with children’s rights," coincides with Abu Dhabi Early Childhood Week, reinforcing the nation's dedication to child welfare.

H.H. Sheikh Theyab called for enhanced coordination among federal and local agencies to protect children effectively. He stressed developing the "Dama Al-Aman" system as a comprehensive framework linking family, education, social services, health services, and law enforcement sectors. This system aims to unify national initiatives for child protection.
The ECA is committed to improving monitoring and evaluation within the "Dama Al-Aman" framework. It focuses on expanding preventive programmes and adopting evidence-based interventions tailored to children's evolving needs amid social and technological changes. These efforts reflect Abu Dhabi's commitment to achieving global child protection goals.
The emirate has made strides in training specialists across various fields, including education, healthcare, and social work. Over ten accredited programmes have been developed in collaboration with the National Academy for Childhood Development. These initiatives aim to ensure the readiness of Abu Dhabi's child protection system.
The Abu Dhabi Child Protection Strategy (2020–2024) led to establishing the Child Center, offering comprehensive services under one roof in partnership with the Family Care Authority. This centre simplifies access to support for families and improves response times to cases.
Expanding Support Services
A new branch of the Child Center has opened in Al Ain, with plans for further expansion. An electronic reporting platform facilitates direct communication with specialists, ensuring swift intervention when children face potential risks.
The "Dama Al-Aman" system was launched by ECA alongside partners from various sectors. It underscores Abu Dhabi's role in strengthening global child protection efforts while aligning with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
The UAE remains dedicated to empowering children by fostering environments where they can thrive within cohesive communities supported by effective institutions working together for future generations' benefit.
