UAE And Chad Collaborate To Establish Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Hospital And Dialysis Centre In N'Djamena

The UAE Aid Agency and Chad's government have agreed to build the Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak Hospital and a dialysis centre in N'Djamena. This initiative follows directives from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with oversight by H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The agreement was signed in the presence of several key figures, including H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Dr. Tareq Ahmed Al Ameri, Chairman of the UAE Aid Agency, and Tahir Hamid Nguilin, Chad's Minister of Finance and Budget, signed the agreement. The hospital will be constructed on land provided by Chad's government, covering 11,300 square meters. Of this area, 9,500 square meters will be dedicated to the hospital building itself, while 1,800 square meters will accommodate medical staff housing.

An additional 4,200 square meters will be used for a dialysis centre equipped with modern medical technology. Sheikh Shakhboot bin Nahyan Al Nahyan highlighted that this project reflects the humanitarian legacy of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It also underscores the UAE's commitment to enhancing healthcare access globally, particularly in underserved regions like Africa.

Sheikh Shakhboot noted that this agreement aligns with President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's vision to bolster healthcare worldwide. "This agreement stems from the UAE's humanitarian mission to provide support for capacity building in less fortunate nations in tune with the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals," he explained.

Dr. Tariq Ahmed Al Ameri emphasised that this agreement demonstrates the UAE's dedication to tackling humanitarian challenges and fostering sustainable development globally. He stated that the UAE Aid Agency would continue its vital role in offering essential assistance to countries needing improved living conditions.

The Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Hospital will feature 11 specialised clinics covering various medical fields such as paediatrics, gynaecology, dentistry, orthopaedics, urology, ophthalmology, ENT, dermatology, internal medicine, cardiology, and general medicine. The facility will include 100 beds and three operating rooms.

Impact on Local Community

Tahir Hamid Nguilin expressed gratitude towards the UAE and its Aid Agency for overseeing this project. He remarked: "The government of Chad thanks the UAE... This will significantly enhance medical services in our capital." The hospital is expected to benefit over 1.7 million people while creating jobs and economic opportunities locally.

The dialysis centre will have 80 beds and serve more than 9% of N'Djamena's population. Dr. Al Ameri mentioned that these facilities would align with policies set by the International Humanitarian and Philanthropic Council under H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan's supervision.

This initiative represents a significant step towards improving healthcare infrastructure in Chad while supporting broader development goals within the region.
