UAE Joins Kuwait In Celebrating The 64th National Day Reflecting Strong Bilateral Relations
The UAE will join Kuwait in celebrating its 64th National Day on Tuesday, highlighting the strong and strategic ties between the two nations. This annual event is marked by special celebrations and displays across the UAE, showcasing the Kuwaiti flag on landmarks and congratulatory banners in shopping centres.
These festivities reflect the deep-rooted relationship between the UAE and Kuwait, which has evolved significantly over time. The partnership spans various sectors such as politics, diplomacy, economics, and culture. This robust alliance is supported by President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Emir of Kuwait.

Economic ties between the UAE and Kuwait have seen substantial growth. In 2024, non-oil trade reached approximately AED50 billion ($13.5 billion), marking a 9 percent increase from 2023. Mutual investments also grew to nearly AED20 billion ($5 billion) by the end of 2022.
The UAE stands as Kuwait's largest importer of non-oil exports, accounting for 22 percent of these exports. It ranks third among Kuwait's key import markets after China and the United States. This economic collaboration underscores the strength of their bilateral relations.
Cultural cooperation forms a vital part of UAE-Kuwait relations. Both countries have signed numerous agreements to facilitate knowledge exchange and strengthen cultural ties for mutual benefit. These efforts are evident in various collaborative initiatives across both nations.
Educational ties have also flourished, with over 1,725 Kuwaiti students currently enrolled in UAE universities. Kuwait's policies encourage more students to pursue education in the UAE, further enhancing educational cooperation between the two countries.
Historical Ties and Diplomatic Relations
The historical bond between the UAE and Kuwait dates back to when Kuwait was among the first to establish diplomatic relations with the UAE after its formation in 1971. The UAE opened its embassy in Kuwait in 1972, followed by Kuwait opening its embassy in Abu Dhabi that same year.
In recent years, both nations have taken steps to strengthen their bilateral ties further. A significant milestone was signing an agreement in 2006 to establish a "Joint Committee for Bilateral Cooperation" in Kuwait. This committee has facilitated numerous meetings resulting in agreements across various sectors.
