SPEA Implements Comprehensive Measures To Enhance School Readiness For 2025-2026
The Sharjah Private Education Authority (SPEA) is gearing up for the 2025-2026 academic year with initiatives to ensure a smooth and secure start for students in private schools across the emirate. These efforts align with SPEA's "Back to School" campaign, which aims to develop skilled students who will positively impact society.
Dr. Muhadditha Al Hashimi, Chairperson of SPEA, highlighted the importance of collaboration in creating a supportive learning environment. She stated, "Education is the foundation of society, and everything we do is aimed at empowering students and teachers, making schools places that drive positive change."

SPEA is taking significant steps to prepare schools for the new academic year by ensuring they meet safety standards. A week before classes commence, inspections will be conducted to assess school readiness. Collaborations with the Roads and Transport Authority ensure school buses adhere to safety guidelines, while partnerships with Sharjah Police aim to manage traffic around schools effectively.
The ongoing "Your Children Are Safe" project, initiated in February 2020, enhances transportation safety through a digital platform that monitors school trips. This system reduces risks and builds parents' confidence by ensuring compliance with safety regulations and enabling swift communication during emergencies.
SPEA remains committed to maintaining high educational standards by developing policies that enhance the educational experience in Sharjah. This commitment aligns with the vision of its leaders and reinforces Sharjah's reputation as a centre of outstanding education.
Ali Al Hosani, Director-General of SPEA, noted the rapid improvements within the Authority due to leadership support. He mentioned, "We strive to turn challenges into opportunities for growth by focusing on our people, improving schools, and promoting a culture of quality and excellence, which are essential for sustainable education."
Comprehensive Educational Initiatives
SPEA is also focused on providing a well-rounded education that caters to all students' needs. New policies related to extracurricular activities and student wellness are being developed. The Authority aims to strengthen partnerships with organisations focused on health, sports, and community education.
To support educational excellence, SPEA backs the Sharjah Award for Educational Excellence. This award recognises outstanding contributions in education and promotes high standards of quality and innovation. Recently, an online platform was launched for its 31st edition to facilitate participation.
Supporting Language Development
A key initiative is "With Arabic We Rise," which aims to strengthen Arabic language skills in schools. This program includes school visits, specialised teacher training, monthly meetings for sharing effective practices, resource materials like the "Teach Arabic" series, and a digital library.
An international forum for Arabic language teachers is planned alongside Teacher's Day celebrations. This highlights Arabic's importance in education while connecting it to future skills development.
Preparing for International Standards
SPEA has begun preparations for an important study called the PIRLS test. This test assesses reading skills among fourth-grade students in private schools across the emirate as part of efforts to meet international education standards.
The Authority supports private schools and nurseries by tailoring assistance according to each institution's unique needs. They are committed to enhancing education quality through self-evaluations and improvement plans while offering professional development opportunities via collaboration with Sharjah Education Academy.
SPEA's initiatives reflect their dedication to improving Sharjah's education system by fostering a stimulating learning environment that invests in people while ensuring competitiveness and sustainability.
