Space42 Secures USD 695.5 Million Financing For Next-Generation UAE Satellites Al Yah 4 And Al Yah 5

Space42 has secured a US$695.5 million financing facility backed by an Export Credit Agency (ECA) to support the development of its upcoming geostationary satellites, Al Yah 4 and Al Yah 5. This funding marks a significant move in Space42's plan to enhance connectivity capabilities across various orbits.

The financing arrangement, facilitated by Crédit Agricole CIB, Santander CIB, Societe Generale, and Natixis with backing from Bpifrance Assurance Export, highlights Space42's strong appeal to major international banks. The funds will be used for satellites set to launch in 2027 and 2028.

This financial facility offers Space42 cost-effective, long-term funding that aligns with its satellite development schedule. It also strengthens the company's liquidity position, supporting future growth plans. Andrew Cole, Chief Financial Officer of Space42, stated: "The Al Yah 4 and Al Yah 5 program is underpinned by a 17-year, $5.1 Billion Government contract commencing in 2026 and advances our goal to become the trusted leader in secure connectivity by providing multi-path critical connectivity solutions."

The ECA-backed financing structure optimises Space42's funding costs while offering enhanced financial flexibility to pursue its growth objectives. This strategic approach focuses on improving secure communication capabilities across both defense and civil sectors through multi-orbit satellite networks.

Al Yah 4 and Al Yah 5 are designed with software-defined architecture featuring fully flexible payloads that can be reconfigured while in orbit. This technology allows real-time optimisation of coverage, bandwidth, and frequency allocation to meet changing operational needs across regions such as the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and Asia.

The new satellites will complement and eventually replace Al Yah 1 and Al Yah 2, which were launched in 2011 and 2012 respectively. This transition ensures continued service while introducing advanced capabilities for mission-critical applications.

Space42's strategic focus on enhancing secure communication through these next-generation satellites positions it as a leader in providing reliable connectivity solutions. The company's commitment to innovation is evident in its efforts to address evolving demands across multiple sectors.
