Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi Collection Museum Established In Sharjah To Inspire Future Generations

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, has decreed the establishment of a museum named "Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi Collection Museum" in Sharjah. This museum will possess legal status and full capacity to undertake necessary actions to fulfil its objectives. It will operate with financial and administrative independence, with ownership belonging to the Emirate’s government.

The museum's collections will be owned by H.H. Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi. The English name for the museum is officially "Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi Collection." The main headquarters will be located in Sharjah Creativity District, with potential branches in other areas as decided by the President.

New Museum Celebrates Sheikha Jawaher’s Legacy

H.H. Sheikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi will lead the museum. A director, appointed by the President, will manage daily operations and report directly to him. The director's responsibilities and powers are defined by this decision, supported by a team of employees.

The museum aims to inspire future designers and craftsmen by showcasing unique collections that highlight Islamic and Arab craft traditions' influence on art forms. It also celebrates Sheikha Jawaher's contributions to decorative arts and craftsmanship while enriching public knowledge about jewellery, ceramics, textiles, and perfumes.

The museum seeks to be a resource for researchers in art history, archaeology, modern art, and design. It aims to enhance understanding of decorative arts and craftsmanship while attracting local and international experts. To achieve these goals, it will develop strategic plans for organising its work.

Access to primary sources, historical documents, academic publications, and a digital archive will be provided for global researchers. Charitable initiatives supporting arts and crafts will be backed by establishing a fund for emerging artists and craftsmen.

Exhibitions and Workshops

The museum plans to host live craft shows, exhibitions, workshops supervised by experts in decorative arts, jewellery design, and perfume making. Lectures, seminars, conferences on decorative arts' historical influences and contemporary practices are also part of its agenda.

Specialised educational programmes will include design competitions for students from design colleges. Guidance from practising designers will be offered alongside student ambassador programmes in collaboration with the Irthi Contemporary Crafts Council.

Research Support and Partnerships

Scholarship programmes focusing on decorative arts' history will support research initiatives. Training programmes providing practical experience in art fields are planned. Contracts with academic bodies and partnerships with local craftsmen are encouraged.

The museum may seek assistance from experts or consulting firms related to its work. Cooperation with relevant authorities for administrative support is allowed if it aligns with the museum's objectives.

This initiative reflects a commitment to preserving cultural heritage while promoting artistic innovation through education and collaboration at both local and international levels.
