Sheikha Fatima Bint Mubarak Explores Historical Dolmabahçe Palace With Emine Erdoğan
H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, known as the "Mother of the Nation," visited Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul. She was accompanied by Emine Erdoğan, wife of Türkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The palace, a significant historical and architectural site, offered her a glimpse into Turkish history and culture.
During her visit, H.H. Sheikha Fatima explored various sections of the palace, including its wings adorned with unique decorations and antique furniture. The palace's grand gates and main hall have hosted important political meetings. She also viewed sections overlooking the Bosphorus from the European side of Istanbul.

The custodians shared insights about the palace's rich history with H.H. Sheikha Fatima. Construction began in 1834 under Sultan Abdulmejid I and took 13 years to complete. Designed for Ottoman sultans, it blends European and Eastern architectural styles, featuring over 285 rooms and 46 reception halls.
H.H. Sheikha Fatima expressed her delight at visiting this landmark that showcases Turkish history's depth and diversity. The palace reflects Islamic art's splendour through its rare artefacts, exquisite works of art, and intricately decorated furniture.
While at the palace, H.H. Sheikha Fatima attended a Turkish fashion show featuring designs inspired by Turkish heritage. These designs blend contemporary touches with traditional elements to reflect innovation while preserving authentic culture.
A luncheon was hosted by Emine Erdoğan in honour of H.H. Sheikha Fatima and her delegation. Several prominent Turkish women figures attended this event, highlighting the significance of cultural exchange during the visit.
