1700 Students From 45 Schools Join Sheikh Rashid Bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Quran Competition In Dubai
The Sheikh Rashid bin Mohammed Al Maktoum Quran Competition is experiencing a surge in participation from students in Dubai. This initiative, part of the "Ghiras Al-Khair" programme, is a collaboration between the Dubai Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities and the Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA). So far, 1,700 students from 45 schools have registered, showcasing its importance among young people and their families.
Schools have actively engaged with the competition, with teachers playing a crucial role in preparing students. This involvement highlights the educational community's commitment to instilling Quranic values. The enthusiasm from parents also underscores Emirati families' dedication to nurturing a love for the Quran in their children and encouraging excellence in this area.

Due to the overwhelming response, the registration deadline has been extended to November 10, 2025. This extension aims to accommodate more students eager to join this significant Quranic initiative. The competition seeks to enhance memorisation and recitation skills while fostering positive competition among students, aligning with leadership goals to nurture a generation connected to its religious and national identity.
Abdullah Abubakr Baslaa, overseeing the competition, noted that this year's high turnout reflects the Emirati community's strong bond with the Quran. He attributed this success to the first edition's ability to motivate both students and parents. Baslaa highlighted ongoing efforts to refine competition standards based on past feedback, aiming for excellence in performance and judging while promoting Islamic values.
The final rounds are scheduled for January 2026 under the supervision of the Dubai Department of Islamic Affairs and Charitable Activities. Students will compete across four main categories: Quran Memorization, Most Beautiful Recitation for Emirati Citizens, Memorization of Tajweed Texts, and Memorization of Scientific Texts. The competition accommodates age groups from Grade 1 to Grade 12.
A special category is dedicated to individuals with intellectual disabilities, reflecting the Department's commitment to educational inclusion. This approach ensures everyone can participate in this blessed event. Baslaa stated, "The positive interaction we have seen from public and private schools, parents, and teaching staff confirms that this competition has become an eagerly awaited annual event. It carries a noble educational message that contributes to building a Quranic generation aware of its identity and Islamic values."
Collaboration for Success
The Department emphasised the vital role of cooperation between schools and parents in ensuring the initiative's success. This collaboration aligns with Dubai’s vision of fostering a cohesive society rooted in authentic religious and moral values. It also strengthens Dubai’s reputation as a leader in educational and Quranic initiatives.
