Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club Claims Victory At Khaled Bin Mohamed Bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship
Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club emerged victorious in the Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Jiu-Jitsu Championship – Round 3 No-Gi, held at Al Bait Metwahid, Sharjah. The final day was filled with intense competition, where Sharjah excelled with precision and determination to secure the lead. Sunday's events featured U16 and Youth categories, showcasing Sharjah's relentless drive and technique to claim the top position.
M.O.D UAE, which had been leading earlier, was pushed into second place. Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club maintained its position in third. The event was attended by notable figures including Issa Hilal Al Hazami, Chairman of Sharjah Sports Council; Yousef Abdullah Al Batran, Board Member of the UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation; and Ahmed Abdul Rahman Al Owais, Chairman of Sharjah Self-Defense Sports Club.

Issa Hilal Al Hazami expressed pride in hosting the championship in Sharjah. He noted that the strong participation reflects the sport's continuous growth. "The support from families plays a big role in the success of these athletes," he stated. He emphasized that this aligns with the country's vision of empowering young people and providing them opportunities to excel.
Mohamed Hussain Al Marzooqi, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at UAEJJF, praised the success of this championship round. He highlighted the robust participation from clubs nationwide as evidence of the Federation’s success in promoting Jiu-Jitsu. This is attributed to the unwavering support from national leadership.
The championship is crucial for empowering young athletes and honing their skills. The U16 and youth categories are seen as vital for Jiu-Jitsu's future. Their impressive performances demonstrate dedication to building strong professional careers and representing their country internationally.
Rafael Vega, coach at Al Ain Club, remarked on athletes' commitment shown during the championship. "This championship provides a real opportunity to test their skills in a high-pressure competitive atmosphere," he said. Coaches focus on developing both technical and mental abilities to ensure athletes can handle pressure strategically.
Athlete Experiences
Mohammad Mutawa from Palms Sports - TEAM 777 won gold in the U16 50kg category. He shared that participating offered an incredible chance to enhance his skills against experienced competitors. Events like these strengthen connections to the sport while teaching values such as patience, discipline, and resilience.
Salem Al Qubaisi from Al Ain Jiu-Jitsu Club secured gold in the Youth Men’s 60kg category. He described the championship as a significant milestone in his career. "Jiu-Jitsu is not just about physical strength; it’s about building character and developing mental toughness," he added.
