Sharjah Ruler H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan Celebrates Winners Of 7th Linguistic Studies Award
H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, honoured the winners of the seventh Sharjah Award for Linguistic and Lexical Studies at the Arabic Language Academy (ALA). He emphasised the importance of scholarly efforts and ongoing research in enriching future generations, a mission Sharjah has pursued for decades by recognising diligent researchers.
The Ruler of Sharjah highlighted that the emirate follows well-planned programmes to support those engaged in scientific, historical, geographical, and Arabic language studies. He stressed the necessity of verifying information through accurate research and analysis to provide pure and complete scientific knowledge.
Dr. Ahmed Khalifa Al Araj secured first place in linguistics for verifying "Al Jeni Al Dani fi Huruf Al Maani" by Al Hassan bin Qasim Al Muradi. Dr. Hala Jamal Al Qadi took second place for her work on "Kitab Al Af'al" by Ibn Al Qutiya. Their contributions have enriched the Arabic library with solid scientific research.
In lexicography, Dr. Faisal Al Hafyan won first place with his "Dictionary of the Holy Quran; Dictionary of Ethics." Dr. Muhammad Abdul Razzaq received second place for his "Dictionary of Interpretation." These specialised dictionaries contribute significantly to humanities and Islamic sciences.
Dr. Faisal Al Hafyan expressed gratitude to the Ruler of Sharjah for supporting scholars and fostering a culture of science and knowledge in the emirate. He noted that receiving an honour from Sharjah instils pride and joy, motivating recipients to excel further.
The ceremony concluded with H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan taking commemorative photos with award winners, trustees, and committee members. This gesture symbolised appreciation for their contributions to linguistic and lexical studies.
Future Themes Announced
Dr. Amhamed Safi Al Mosteghanemi, Secretary-General of ALA, announced themes for the upcoming eighth session: Textual linguistic studies under linguistics and dictionaries focused on Arabic language sciences terminology under lexicography.
The event underscored Sharjah's commitment to advancing linguistic scholarship by honouring those who contribute valuable insights into Arabic language studies.
