Sharjah Ruler Celebrates Graduation Of Second Cohort At Sharjah Maritime Academy
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, attended the graduation ceremony for the second cohort of Sharjah Maritime Academy. The event, held at the Academy's theatre in Khorfakkan, celebrated 23 graduates. Sheikh Sultan expressed pride in both the students and their families, acknowledging the rigorous nature of maritime training.
The ceremony commenced with the UAE national anthem, followed by a Quran recitation and the entrance of graduates. Sheikh Sultan praised the graduates for acquiring knowledge through challenging real-world experiences at sea. He stated, "We placed them aboard ships amid labour and danger, yet they lived up to the trust placed in them."
Sheikh Sultan highlighted that Sharjah Maritime Academy's success is due to collective efforts from families and faculty. He announced upcoming postgraduate programmes like Master’s and PhD degrees. The Academy's certifications are now recognised by over ten international institutions, enhancing the reputation of cities like Khorfakkan, Kalba, and Dibba Al Hisn.
Dr Hashem Abdullah bin Sarhan Al Zaabi, Director of Sharjah Maritime Academy, addressed attendees and congratulated Sheikh Sultan on the Academy’s progress. He described this event as a milestone in a journey shaped by Sheikh Sultan’s vision for maritime education.
Dr Al Zaabi reaffirmed the Academy’s dedication to preparing skilled professionals for maritime and logistics sectors. He emphasised developing academic programmes and strengthening partnerships locally and globally. He praised students' dedication and acknowledged Sheikh Sultan’s role in fostering their development.
Graduate Taif Al Raisi spoke on behalf of her peers, expressing gratitude to Sheikh Sultan for his support in education and to professors for their guidance. She thanked families and congratulated fellow students on their achievements.
Graduates' Future Contributions
Addressing graduates, Dr Al Zaabi urged them to apply their learning in maritime transport and contribute to national development. He extended thanks to parents and academic teams for their vital roles in this achievement.
Sheikh Sultan presented graduation certificates to 23 graduates from Bachelor’s programmes in Marine Engineering Technology and Maritime Transport. He congratulated them on their success.
The ceremony was attended by Sheikh Khaled bin Abdullah bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Chairman of Sharjah Ports Authority; Sheikh Saeed bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Deputy Head of Ruler’s Office in Khorfakkan; senior officials; Board of Trustees members; and graduates’ families.
Sheikh Sultan concluded by reaffirming Sharjah’s commitment to science and knowledge advancement across all sectors. "This advancement in standards is one of life’s greatest achievements," he said.
