Sharjah Ruler Approves 1,000 Government Jobs And 393 Scholarships For Emiratisation Plan 2026
Sharjah is expanding support for Emirati talent through new government jobs, paid training, and university scholarships approved by His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, adding fresh opportunities for graduates and job seekers across all cities in the emirate.
The latest directives increase the total number of government roles funded under the 2026 budget to 2,000, while a parallel training initiative and new academic scholarships aim to strengthen localisation efforts and improve long-term employment outcomes for Emirati men and women.

His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi approved the hiring of 1,000 Emirati men and women in the Government of Sharjah, targeting graduates from different cities and regions, bringing the total announced roles in the 2026 financial plan to 2,000 positions dedicated to localisation programmes in the emirate.
The Sharjah Department of Human Resources has been instructed to start job interviews next week, covering every city and region in the emirate, so that eligible Emirati applicants can quickly compete for the newly approved roles within Sharjah’s various government entities.
Alongside direct hiring, His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi also endorsed the 2026 Sharjah Programme for Training and Qualifying Job Seekers, which will support 1,200 Emirati participants with AED60 million in funding and provide structured training with a monthly allowance of AED6,000 for each trainee.
The training initiative is designed for graduates in technical and professional fields and will start in early February 2026, focusing on civil engineering, architectural engineering, accounting, information technology, and programming, with the goal of preparing participants for direct appointment in government roles that match their qualifications.

Sharjah employment programme and cooperation with entities
The Sharjah employment programme for training will run in cooperation with several government bodies, including the Sharjah Department of Town Planning and Survey, the Sharjah Department of Public Works, the Sharjah Department of Housing, the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority, and the municipalities across the Emirate of Sharjah.
These entities will host trainees, provide practical exposure, and help assess participants for direct appointments, ensuring that skills gained in engineering, accounting, technology, and programming are aligned with actual operational needs in Sharjah’s government departments.
Sharjah employment programme and scholarship support
His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi also approved 393 scholarships for Emirati students and children of Emirati women enrolled in undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the American University of Sharjah, the University of Khorfakkan, the University of Kalba, the University of Al Dhaid, and the Sharjah Maritime Academy.
The scholarships are intended to ease financial pressure on students and families while ensuring that Sharjah continues to develop qualified national talent in key academic disciplines, which can later feed into the emirate’s public sector and support wider localisation objectives.
Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Member of the Sharjah Executive Council and Chairman of the Sharjah Department of Human Resources, outlined these approvals during an intervention on the programme "Direct Line" on Sharjah Radio and Television, stressing that the initiatives are aligned with the emirate’s ongoing employment and training priorities.
The decisions form part of Sharjah’s strategic plan to create suitable jobs for graduates, strengthen Emiratisation, and support a decent standard of living across all cities and regions, by linking education, practical training, and public sector employment within a single, coordinated framework.
