Sharjah Ports and Dubai Border Council Meet

The visiting delegation received a presentation on the operational framework of the Sharjah Ports and Border Points Committee. The presentation highlighted key achievements since its establishment under a 2020 resolution by the Sharjah Executive Council. It showcased progress in field coordination and integration among entities operating at border points.

A field tour was part of the visit, where guests explored the monitoring and control room at Sharjah International Airport’s customs sector. They were introduced to cutting-edge security systems used in surveillance operations. The Monitoring and Control Centre is one of the most advanced facilities within Sharjah's customs infrastructure.

The centre is equipped with 36 display screens, 21 control monitors, distributed across 11 smart operation tables, staffed by 44 employees working around-the-clock shifts. It has integrated surveillance systems for Sharjah International Airport, its air cargo terminal, and the airport free zone using 274 AI-powered smart cameras capable of facial recognition.

These cameras also recognise vehicle plates and store data for real-time analysis. Future plans include expanding to accommodate an additional 1,100 cameras. There will also be full digital connectivity with the National Early Inquiry system alongside an advanced risk analysis system to enhance predictive monitoring.

The aim is to further strengthen operational efficiency through these expansions. The discussions during this visit are expected to foster better cooperation frameworks between entities involved in border management across the UAE.
