Sharjah Announces Significant Updates On Industrial Area 6 Infrastructure Development Project

The infrastructure development task force for Sharjah's Al Nahda Area and Industrial Areas 6 and 7 has shared updates on the ongoing project in Industrial Area 6. This initiative is a collaboration among several key entities, including the Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), Initiatives Implementation Authority in Sharjah (Mubadara), and others. The project aligns with directives from His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, aiming to enhance infrastructure across Sharjah's industrial zones.

During a press briefing at SCCI’s headquarters, Abdallah Sultan Al Owais, Chairman of SCCI, Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer, Commander-in-Chief of Sharjah Police, and Consultant Dr. Eng. Salah bin Butti Al Muhairi discussed the project's progress. The initiative focuses on creating a modern infrastructure framework that supports investment opportunities and strengthens Sharjah's position as a global industrial hub.

Updates on Sharjah Industrial Area 6 Project

The project includes constructing 19 kilometers of new internal roads, improving pedestrian sidewalks, and providing parking facilities for vehicles and heavy trucks. These enhancements aim to improve mobility, reduce traffic congestion, and support logistics for businesses in the area. Additionally, a state-of-the-art stormwater drainage network is being developed to ensure operational continuity under Sharjah’s climate resilience strategy.

Consultant Dr. Eng. Salah bin Butti Al Muhairi emphasized that this project is crucial for promoting sustainable industrial development in Sharjah. "This project reflects the vision of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi," he stated, highlighting its role in supporting economic diversification and reinforcing Sharjah’s status as an attractive destination for investments.

The scope extends to modernizing essential utility networks such as water, gas, electricity, irrigation, wastewater, and telecommunications. This ensures consistent supply systems that meet corporate growth needs and increasing energy demands. The project also features advanced street lighting across all internal roads and a comprehensive surveillance system with full-area camera coverage to enhance safety.

Eng. Youssef Khamis Al-Athmani from the Sharjah Roads and Transport Authority noted that this initiative is one of their most significant projects. With a 730-day implementation period starting next month, it aims to redevelop Industrial Area 6 comprehensively according to global engineering standards.

Strategic Importance

Major General Abdullah Mubarak bin Amer highlighted the strategic importance of upgrading infrastructure in Sharjah’s industrial zones. He explained that aligning with world-class standards will boost competitiveness while enhancing safety benchmarks. "Sharjah Police is deploying smart surveillance systems," he said, emphasizing their role in improving quality of life through enhanced security measures.

A key aspect of this development is its potential impact on reducing operational costs for businesses while improving supply chain performance and asset security within Industrial Area 6. These improvements are expected to create an investment-friendly environment conducive to both existing enterprises and new entrants.

Abdallah Sultan Al Owais praised H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi for his guidance in ensuring high standards throughout this project execution process: "The effort provides a flexible environment fostering corporate growth." This initiative aims at reinforcing Sharjah’s standing as a leading manufacturing destination globally.

This comprehensive redevelopment plan marks a significant shift in Industrial Area 6's business landscape by driving down expenses related to operations or logistics while fostering competitive ecosystems attractive enough even for newcomers seeking opportunities within these thriving sectors.
