Agricultural Land Licensing Mechanism Approved By Sharjah Executive Council To Boost Farming And Investment

The Sharjah Executive Council approved a new system for licensing agricultural land and reviewed a draft law on drones, during a meeting led by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi. The session also assessed progress in voluntary work through the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work and its role in social participation.

The Council confirmed that the agricultural licensing mechanism will support farm owners and productive farms across the Emirate of Sharjah. The system offers tailored service packages, clear procedures, and official licences for agricultural production. It aims to raise local output, improve food security standards, and attract further investment into agriculture.

Under the new mechanism, farms in Sharjah will operate within a defined regulatory framework. The approach links relevant partners, such as government entities and sector institutions, to support implementation. It also requires farmers to apply strict quality and food safety standards, while providing facilities that make it easier to continue and expand agricultural activities.

The Council explained that the initiative is designed to enhance agricultural investment opportunities and encourage sustainable productive agriculture. By creating consistent rules for licensing, the system helps align farm operations with the wider vision and long-term strategy of the Emirate of Sharjah. Authorities expect the framework to strengthen confidence among investors and farm owners alike.

Members of the Sharjah Executive Council also examined a draft law that will regulate the use of unmanned aerial vehicles in Sharjah. The proposed law keeps pace with the aviation sector’s development in the UAE. The Council asked for several comments and amendments to be added before sending the draft to the Sharjah Consultative Council for further consideration.

Another item on the agenda was a detailed report on the Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work. The report outlined the award’s strategic plan, which aims to boost competitiveness in voluntary work, strengthen volunteering values in the community, and achieve institutional excellence in the award’s operations and management.

The Sharjah Award for Voluntary Work report showed 292 submissions across 14 categories. Participation has increased and now covers a wider range of sectors and social groups, including veteran figures, entities, supporters, volunteer teams, students, suburbs, and various initiatives. These developments reflect growing engagement with organised volunteering in the emirate.

The meeting, held at the Ruler’s Office, was chaired by H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, with H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi in attendance. Discussions covered public policies of government departments and authorities, and their contribution to the vision and strategy of Sharjah, highlighting continuous efforts to improve government work and community outcomes.
