Sharjah Data Centres: Sultan Bin Ahmed Witnesses MoU To Explore New Facilities
A new tripartite Memorandum of Understanding establishes cooperation to develop advanced data centres and artificial intelligence projects in Sharjah. The accord links Sharjah Communications Technology Authority, DataCanvas International and AI Caravan, and is designed to expand digital infrastructure, encourage technology investment and support the emirate’s shift towards a broader knowledge-based economy.
The memorandum sets out joint work on planning, establishing and operating data centres, alongside wider technological infrastructure programmes. It highlights coordinated efforts to exchange technical expertise, create practical implementation plans and design artificial intelligence solutions. The cooperation aims to strengthen Sharjah’s competitive position in regional data services and advanced technologies while aligning activities with global standards and regulatory expectations.
Sharjah’s long-term objectives under the agreement include improving infrastructure quality, attracting investment focused on artificial intelligence and building a skilled local workforce. The three parties commit to a structured, sustainable partnership with clearly defined roles. They plan to create an integrated system that supports the emirate’s development priorities and encourages knowledge transfer across digital infrastructure, sustainability practices and emerging technology fields.
Operationally, the MoU describes how each entity will share responsibility for legal and administrative compliance, oversight of partnership contracts and delivery of feasibility studies for new data centres. The partners will also provide operational support for upcoming sites and related projects, ensuring that design, construction and management processes reflect both efficiency targets and environmental considerations.
Key signatories to the MoU are Rashid Ali Al Ali, CEO of Sharjah Communications Technology Authority; Li Fang, CEO of DataCanvas International; and Jav Meer, Director of Strategic Planning and Relations at AI Caravan.
